To assist create new musical adaptations of DreamWorks Animation films for the theatrical licensing firm Music Theatre International’s portfolio, four participants in a DreamWorks Theatricals emerging writers program have been chosen.
DreamWorks Theatricals and MTI, in conjunction with NBCUniversal’s Global Talent Development & Inclusion team, are the program’s primary sponsors. The chosen authors, include KristaProjects aimed for the MTI catalogue will include Knight, Kwamé, Mansour, and Thomas.
In a statement, MTI CEO Drew Cohen stated that the newcomers’ efforts will “in turn” inspire a new, extended generation of theater performers, theater authors, and theatergoers.
Those who have been chosen to take part in the Emerging Writers Program are:
KRISTA KNIGHT has received a number of accolades for her work, including a fellowship from the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at The Juilliard School and the Heideman Award from Actors Theatre of Louisville (2016). Crush, Sloppy Bonnie, and Lipstick Lobotomy are some of the plays that have been performed.

JORIAH KWAMÉ is a musician who lives and works in New York City. He is most known for penning the song “Little Miss Perfect,” which was performed on Broadway by Taylor Louderman.
The song has been listened to millions of times on social media and is now beingadapted from a previous theatrical performance. Shawn Mendes is the artist that recorded the song “Top Of The World,” which was written by him, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul and was released by Lyle Lyle Crocodile.

VERONICA MANSOUR is a performer, composer, and lyricist who has worked with Kristin Chenoweth, Todd Rundgren, Chloe Agnew, and members of the Hamilton cast. She showed up onCurrently, she can be seen on the television show The Goldbergs on ABC, and she is attending the NYU Tisch School of the Arts to get an MFA in Graduate Musical Theatre Writing.
KATE THOMAS has been a finalist for the Kleban Prize and the Jonathan Larson Grant on two separate occasions, and she is the 2021 PMCA Emerging Playwright.Winner of the competition. Her plays and musicals have been created in collaboration with a number of different theater companies and festivals, including Prospect Theater Company, New York Theater Festival, Open Jar, and New York Theatre Barn.
