Google Bard AI challenge Microsoft (Open AI) ChatGPT

“Bard,” a conversational service developed by Google, is intended to compete with the success of the ChatGPT tool, which is supported by Microsoft. Google is preparing for a battle of wits in the area of artificial intelligence by developing “Bard.”

According to Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, Bard will first be accessible only to a select set of “trusted testers” before being broadly disseminated later this year.

A youngster should be able to grasp the difficult concepts spoken by Google’s chatbot when it comes to topics like space discoveries. It also says that the service will be able to handle other, more routine jobs, such as offering advice on how to arrange a party or suggesting meals based on the food that is already in a refrigerator.

Pichai did not specify in his article whether or not Bard would be able to produce writing in the style of William Shakespeare, the playwright who reportedly served as the service’s inspiration for its moniker.

According to what Pichai stated, “Bard may be an outlet for creativity as well as a launchpad for curiosity.”

Less than two weeks after Microsoft disclosed it was pouring billions of dollars into OpenAI, the San Francisco-based maker of ChatGPT and other tools that can write readable text and generate new images, Google announced the existence of Bard. Microsoft’s announcement came less than a week after Google’s.

The choice that Microsoft made in 2019 to increase the stakes on an investment of one billion dollars that it had previously made in OpenAI increased the amount of pressure that was placed on Google to demonstrate that it will be able to keep pace in a field of technology that many analysts believe will be as transformative as personal computers, the internet, and smartphones have been at various stages over the course of the past four decades.

According to a story that was published by CNBC one week ago, a group of Google employees who work on developing artificial intelligence technologies “has been urged to prioritize working on a response to ChatGPT.”

As part of Google’s “code red” initiative to combat the success of ChatGPT, which has attracted tens of millions of users since its general release late last year, while also raising concerns in schools about its ability to write entire essays for students, Bard had been a service that was being developed under a project called “Atlas.”

Pichai has been stressing the significance of artificial intelligence for the past six years. One of the most obvious results of this work will become a reality in 2021 when it is incorporated into a system referred to as the “Language Model for Dialogue Applications,” or LaMDA. This system will be used to power Bard.

Google also has plans to begin putting LaMDA and other artificial intelligence developments into its preeminent search engine in order to deliver more helpful answers to the increasingly intricate inquiries that are being presented by its billions of users.

Pichai hinted that the artificial intelligence techniques would be used in Google’s search in the not-too-distant future, but did not provide a particular date for when this will occur.

Google’s announcement last week that it would invest in and work with Anthropic, an artificial intelligence firm run by several former officials at OpenAI, is another indication of Google’s growing commitment to the area of artificial intelligence.

Anthropic has developed its very own artificial intelligence chatbot, which it calls Claude, and has a goal that is focused on protecting AI.
