In a new civil claim, the family of a cameraman killed by Alec Baldwin on set seeks damages from the actor and the film’s producers.
Apparently, Mr. Baldwin accidentally shot Halyna Hutchins with a pretend pistol while filming Rust in New Mexico.
Last month, 64-year-old Mr. Baldwin was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Gloria Allred, who represents the Hutchins family, said her clients were “devastated by the terrible death” of Ms. Hutchins.
According to Ms. Allred during a press conference on Thursday, Ms. Hutchins’ mother, father, and sister, all of whom now reside in Ukraine, have filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging intentional infliction of mental distress and negligence.

They “feel strongly that anybody who is responsible for her loss must be held accountable,” she stated on behalf of the family.
In February, Mr. Hutchin’s spouse sued Mr. Baldwin and others involved in the film’s development.
The action, which sought punitive damages, burial, and other costs and claimed “reckless conduct and cost-cutting” on set contributed to her death, was resolved in October for an unknown sum.
Ms. Allred stated that the latest complaint filed on Thursday seeks “accountability and justice” for Ms. Hutchins’ husband and kid, as well as for Ms. Hutchins’ parents and sister.
Ukrainian Ms. Hutchins was wounded in the chest with a pretend pistol, reportedly fired by Mr. Baldwin, at Bonanza Creek Ranch outside Santa Fe, where she later died in the hospital.

Prosecutors said last month that Mr. Baldwin had been talking on his phone to family members when he should have been practicing with his guns. Some said Mr. Baldwin’s performance was subpar.
Documents filed by the Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office indicate that the defendant knew he should not have aimed the pistol at Ms. Hutchin’s face and that he should have conducted obligatory safety checks with armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was also charged with involuntary homicide.
