On Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s team lost their fifth straight game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, making it a bad place for Manchester City to play.
In the 15th minute, Spurs took the lead when Harry Kane scored his 267th goal for the club. This was a record for the club.
Spurs’ well-planned move to press the ball led to Kane’s goal.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who was later named Player of the Match, stole the ball high up the field and passed it to Harry Kane, who scored with his first shot.
Riyad Mahrez came close to tying the game for City in the additional time at the end of the first half, but his powerful shot hit the crossbar instead of finding the back of the net.
But unfortunately for the visitors, that was as near as they got to scoring their first goal ever at this venue.
Due to the fact that defender Cristian Romero was dismissed from the game for getting two cautions, Tottenham had to finish the game without him. Added time was also played without him.
Sunday saw Spurs boss Antonio Conte absent.
Conte recovered from gallbladder surgery at home.
Cristian Stellini, Conte’s assistant, managed Tottenham.
Before the game started, Stellini confirmed that Conte had given him full trust to choose the team.
Stellini revealed to Sky Sports that although the two of us discussed the team, he ultimately deferred his decision to her because she was in charge of the training.
“In our system, it is really crucial to look at how the players are in the last two training sessions [before to a match].”
Stellini has taken over for Tottenham in two games this season, and both have ended in victories.
With Conte out due to suspension, Tottenham put the 48-year-old in charge for their final group stage match in the Champions League.
In November, Spurs beat Marseille 2-1 on the road.
Stellini stated, “Absolutely a tremendous effort for all the players and all the staff,” after Sunday’s victory over City, according to BBC Sport.
